Meet Julian Owen, Managing Director and Founder of Julian Owen Associates Ltd.
Julian Owen, a chartered Nottingham architect, is the Founder and Managing Director of our practice in the East Midlands. He a director of ASBA architects, a national network he formed in 1992. He has been a representative on the national council of the RIBA, chairman of the Nottingham and Derby Society branch of the RIBA and Chair of the RIBA East Midland Region. He also chaired the East Midlands Construction Industry Council for 5 years, which he helped to set up in 2003.
As well as writing magazine articles, he has written and published books for consumers on house design, home alterations and timber frame construction. For 15 years he has delivered talks and seminars at national home improvement shows in London and Birmingham on topics such as house design, home renovation and working with architects. In 2003 he received an MBE for services to architecture.

We have been vetted by Trading Standards, who took up to 10 references from previous customers and all our staff have been checked and cleared by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
Qualified
We can use the title ‘architects’ because the practice is controlled and run by a fully qualified architect who is registered with the Architects Registration Board and has completed the required minimum seven year training course. ‘Architectural Designers’ and those with similar titles have less training, or may be unqualified and are usually unregulated. We are also a Royal Institute of British Architects Chartered Practice.

We never accept the commissions or inducements that are offered to specifiers by builders and suppliers that are used by some designers to make hidden profits at your expense.
Accurate
A professionally prepared set of drawings is essential to get reliable, accurate prices from builders. Without a detailed tender package the builders are more likely to increase the cost after work has started.
