We have now broken ground on Newdigate Street in Kimberley with the demolition of the former Kimberley Parish Hall carried out by Total Reclaims Demolitions Ltd. This is the first step in the next chapter of the site, which was originally the site of the old Classrooms and Gymnasium for the Kimberley School, which was later converted for use by the local community. Following the demolition we are set to commence construction on our the 3 storey mixed use community hub with the help of T&C Williams, a Sheffield based building company founded in 1962.
The new building will replace the Kimberley Parish Hall, which for nearly 60 years housed Kimberley town council as well as providing community space for the long running dance and fitness classes in the dance hall. However the new facility, which boasts two event spaces, including a new dance studio with a sprung floor, food & drink facilities, and rentable commercial units to support small local businesses, which will together provide more opportunities for the local community for the next 60 years.
During the demolition of the old hall the work by Total Reclaims was recorded, and used to create a timelapse of the demolition and clear up which can be viewed on Kimberley Town Council’s Website.
This is a really exciting time for Kimberley and this building will be a financial asset to the community at large. The opportunity to host local events and bring income into the town through seminars, conferences and other functions is the aim of our motivated and enthusiastic councillors and the Council team
