New Houses - New house adjacent to listed hall, Papplewick, Nottingham

This large family home was a self build project for the client, who managed the project and carried out some of the building work himself. The ground floor is a farmhouse style plan, with a sizeable central Kitchen forming the main living space. The upper floor consists entirely of rooms in the roof. Careful planning was needed to ensure that the bedrooms were of sufficient size but still allow circulation throughout the first floor via corridors. The planning application was carefully scrutinised because the site is surrounded by a high listed brick garden wall, being the original kitchen garden of the main hall.
